I’m home and refreshed after last night’s Muso’s Club jam at the Bald Faced Stag, capably run by the masterful Jim Finn on drums, and ably assisted by Adam Pringle on guitar and Bill Crossland on bass.
Lots of good players present and jamming, and lots of good sets played as a result.
September 26 was the anniversary of the passing of the Empress Of The Blues, Bessie Smith,m and so I felt it appropriate to play a couple of tracks from the great lady.
Also, this is the week leading up to the NRL Grand Final, and so in order to recognise the fact that the team I sort of support, the Sydney Roosters, will be in that match, and playing the St George Dragons, I thought that I’d observe that occasion and play some music that, perhaps in an obtuse way, set a theme of chickens, roosters, birds, saints, Angels, devils …

Welcome to the Blues Gorilla website.
I’m Gary Stark, also known (amongst other things) as the Blues Gorilla. I’m a presenter at Sydney’s 2RDJ-FM radio station, broadcasting from Burwood into Sydney’s inner west, where I host a Monday evening blues show.
I’m also a bass player, and I often wander down to the Bald Faced Stag in Leichhardt to join in the Wednesday night jam.
Within this blog I’ll be discussing various elements of the blues world, from artists, through gigs, music, and festivals. If I happen to find something that I think might be new, I will try to pass that information on to you through these pages.
